Who We Are
The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Minority Coalition is a Coalition that works to ensure equal representation and opportunity within the UFCW union. It is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace by empowering underrepresented groups, such as workers of color and marginalized communities.
The coalition works towards addressing issues of inequality in labor practices, advocating for fair treatment, and fostering leadership opportunities for minority members within the union. By focusing on education, awareness, and outreach, the UFCW Minority Coalition strives to improve conditions for workers across various sectors, such as retail, food processing, healthcare, and others.
In summary, the UFCW Minority Coalition is a dedicated group within the union that promotes social justice, equality, and the active involvement of minorities in leadership roles, aiming to create a more inclusive labor movement.
Annual Conference & Ball
On Saturday, November 16, 2024, UFCW leaders and members along with their family and friends will come together to celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the UFCW Minority Coalition Annual Ball. You are cordially invited to take part in this very special event. Following last year’s successful 50th Anniversary Celebration, we felt it fitting to continue our conference as an in-person event. The conference will take place at the Hilton Washington D.C. Capitol Hill, as we award outstanding individuals for their exceptional service and raise funds to promote Sickle Cell disease education and research.
As always, our Ball is the culmination of the Coalition’s weekend of education, inspiration, and planning. It starts with our Executive Board meeting on Friday, November 15th, followed by a day-long Education Conference, which will feature dynamic labor and community speakers from the AFL-CIO, UFCW, other affiliates, as well as the NAACP.
In a world where health challenges are becoming increasingly complex, the focus on prevention has never been more crucial. This conference will bring together leading experts in healthcare, wellness, and public health to explore how preventative measures can significantly improve our quality of life and reduce the burden on healthcare systems. We believe that taking control of your health starts with informed decisions and proactive steps.
