On Saturday, November 17, 2018, UFCW leaders and members along with their family and friends will come together to celebrate the 20th Anniversary UFCW Minority Coalition Annual Ball. You are cordially invited to take part in this very event.
As always, our Ball is the culmination of the Coalition’s weekend of education, inspiration, and planning. It starts with our Executive Board meeting, followed by a full day-long Education Conference, which will feature dynamic labor and community speakers from the AFL-CIO, UFCW, other affiliates, as well as the NAACP. The labor workshop will focus on how to fight back against intensified economic injustice in light of the Janus decision. Conference participants will also have the opportunity to learn from the experts on how to prepare for the upcoming mid-term elections, with special emphasis on mobilizing and registering women and voters of color.
This year’s Ball promises to be more spectacular than ever before, as we award outstanding persons for their exceptional service and raise funds to promote sickle cell disease education and research and also give special recognition to the spouses of Coalition activists whose support makes us stronger.
Our Annual Ball has become the premiere fundraising event for the Coalition’s charity, Faces of Our Children (501(c) non-profit organization). Over the years, we have increased public awareness, helped families of children with the disease, and supported efforts in finding a cure. Our success in the fight against the disease is due in large because of your financial support. The Coalition extends sincere gratitude and graciously asks for your ongoing help by joining us at this year’ ball, which will be held at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C.
Enclosed, you will find details on the Education Conference, hotel reservations, Annual Ball tickets and sponsorship information, including a list of the 2018 Minority Coalition Award Recipients.
Please make note of the deadlines: Marriott (October 24th) and Ball tickets (November 2nd).
Thank you again for your continuing support, and make sure you don’t miss this auspicious occasion.
